Good news/bad news #mondayblogs #pennyforyourthoughts

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and before I dive in, I want to say, this IS about writing. In it’s own way at least, but it’s a lot more about how serious something that looks innocuous can get to be. I’ve spent the last six years dipping in and out of anaemia. Due to a reason I’ve already written about (the book I’ll eventually re-release, with all the others, “I don’t want to wear incontinence pants”, which is basically about how bad it is for me when I get my period, and what I’ve found worked for…

Where I was, where I am, where I’m going #Mondayblogs #ByKai #Rebrand

Well…that was a bit longer than I meant it to be. Sorry about that. I went offline in July to try and get a bit of clarity on how to plan and merge down everything and while that project is still in progress…no, actually, is still in the beginning phases, I have good reason for it. A year ago this week, I was diagnosed as having issues with B12, foliate (which is important if you’re still trying to extend your family, which we are, but actually, is an important thing for memory, and nerve and muscle connectivity and all sorts…

B is for Books #atozchallenge2022

This entry is part 4 of 10 in the series Blogging From AtoZ 2022

I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to say in this post about books, because those people that know me also know it’s pretty much all I talk about outside of Ludosport and gaming and my family.I was going to share a cornucopia of ‘coming soon’, but then I got Covid (next post) and that kinda got scrapped. I’ve been struggling really, and it’s not a pleasant feeling. B for Books also links to N for Nanowrimo At the core of my writing, whether it’s clear or not, is a project called Nanowrimo. I write a lot during the three…

Imbolc, Chinese New Year, St Brigit’s day #newbeginnings #mondayblogs

I’m still feeling pretty down, and I’ve been away for a bit. Plus, I loged in this week and discovered that the theme I’d been trying to pull together had gone completely pear shaped, so I’m running a new, possibly temporary one.But it’s all new beginnings, which is really, quite a theme today. So. 恭喜发财 (gōng xǐ fā cái), may the seeds you planted make you the happiest you can be this year. I’m working on changing things, and letting go of regret. I’m not sure whether I can plant that and it’ll grow into something better, or if I…

A 2021 retrospective…a bit late ;) #mondayblogs #yearinreview #lifetheuniverseandakitchensink

Hi there guys. Normally, doing these, I do really try to get them up either as we’re travelling home on the21st December, but as everyone saw, I posted something else instead. So, I’ll do the retrospective today, and tomorrow we’ll do the ‘coming in 2022’. I got nothing done… I think the first thing to acknowledge is that personal goals wise, I’m not further visibly forward, but I did a lot of…I guess it’s ‘behind the scenes’ work. I did have a quieter, calmer year in some ways. Supporting the kids, supporting my partner, and trying to plan for what…

The radical changes I need to make #Mondayblogs #Wedswriters

So, I was a bit quiet about it, but I went on holiday for two weeks in the middle of August.  I spent the last two weeks battering around a pile of theme parks – Disney, Universal, Blizzard Beach (One of Disney’s waterparks), plus Nasa, Gatorland, the Florida Mall, Denny’s, IHOP… we did so much that I’m spending so much time just exploring my experiences and filing them away carefully.  My memory being what it is, I’ve also got about a gazillion photos that we all took – me, David, his mom, his sister, the kids. I’ll talk about that…

Momentum

We move through our lives at a constant pace.  We can accelerate or decelerate ourselves with a limited amount of success, but the speed we do things at, at our base rate at least, is probably something we’ll never change.  Some of us rush headlong into everything and batter through life as fast as we can, hungry for as many new experiences as we can pick up, and tired at the end of each day because we’ve packed in so much. Others go as slow as possible, savoring every step, and realising, deep down, that they can’t do everything they…

Who am I?

Cricket asked this and at first, I thought, ah, well, that’s easy. I’m tech support.  I’m a writer.  I’m an extremely clever woman.  I’m a graduate of Creative Writing. I’m a mother.  I’m the woman that’s dating one of the most amazing men in the world, bar none.  I’m close friend to people that I can’t mention by name, because my privacy and theirs is worth more than the street cred it might get me. But that’s all very ‘external’ and perception based. So, I tried to go a little deeper.  My name isn’t Kai, but it’s what everyone bar…

Release schedules….

One of the major areas I’m looking at right now, while increasing my ‘discipline’ and butt in seat stickivity for my writing is to look at my release schedules. So, when I’ve got Glass Block out the gates, I’ve got several choices – Near Earth, Black Monday or another book, I’m not sure whether I’ll move forward with one of several books, or if I’ll take the time to build up my copywriting business, or do something else.  All I do know is the next few weeks and months are going to be jam packed, and I hope that they’ll…

Toys and tools for writers – part 2 – the novelist

Ok – so, one way or another, you’ve got the tools I recommended – whether you went with all free, or a mix of free and paid, or you’re ready to experiment with each.  Or you’ve got your own go-to tools, that you work with – that’s ok too – the list I provided wasn’t exhaustive (though, if you think I’ve missed something, please let me know – I’d love to hear about other tools people use). I also didn’t list ‘Write or die’ – deliberately – that goes under a whole ‘nother section – writer’s block. Anyway – tools…

There and back again

Image via Wikipedia So Monday morning, I went into hospital – and I’m home again now. For personal reasons I tend not to talk about my medical problems on the blog (I have a couple, some of them gender based, some of them because I’m just unlucky) but it’s a fair bet that if I’m going into hospital, I’m in more pain than I can cope with. There’s been an odd shift in the health community lately – and I’m not sure that I like it. Ir amazes me that doctors are perfectly willing to take input from sick people,…

Guest blog posts with free tech support

I thought, given there’s a lot of people have been asking how to ‘hire’ me as a guest blogger recently so I thought I’d sweeten the deal. If you’re running WordPress self-hosted, I’ll log in, run the posts that you want, over a period of two weeks or more (with a standard bio) – but you’ll get to review them and edit them before they’re posted as live – and while I’m there, I’ll make sure everything you’re running is up to date and give you the basic plugins that I run at the same time. I’ll also make sure…
