When she sing, she sings “Come home” #mondayblogs #rungirlrun

(Don’t Google that, if you plan to watch Loki, the TV series, as the titular character sings it). I’ve been equal parts restless, equal parts full of wanting to get on with changing things, but not having the energy to do any of it. So, as is my usual tactic, I’m actually travelling today. I’m going home.Tomorrow morning, I’ll be heading to my temple, called Goddess Falls. It’s known as another name in Edinburgh, but I’ll be taking my lightsaber with me in the morning. Travelling, thinking, going home We’re hoping that we get to go (so, either this’ll be…

Changing around some categories – housekeeping 2021 – Part 1

While my blogs merge down, I’ve got some housekeeping to do. Some categories will move, some will merge, some will redirect. Hopefully I caught it all while I was housekeeping, but I’ve made a list. Some of these don’t always make perfect sense – they straddle two lines, I guess.Eventually, some of these will be moved wholesale off my blog to new sites, or subdomains, or other places. There will be a housekeeping post about that too!And I was kidding myself when I thought I’d get this done. There will be an article that you can read these in a series…

Is it though? Thoughts on #failure

If at first, you don’t succeed, try. Try again. English Truism/cliché (sidenote, I always thought the punctuation on that saying was pretty fluid. It actually reads more like a poem when I write it, cause I’ve always put the commas and full stops in there. Weird that my version actually talks about failing at least twice too. I’ll get to that later) Failure – a loaded word The last few weeks have been really…weird for me. I *started* making strides on becoming happier, healthier and more confident in my skin by trying to go for a walk outside and enjoying…

B is for Books – Walking off the earth #Finalchapterinthisbook #newbook #atozchallenge

I’ve had many ‘this is my hardest’s to deal with – probably more than anyone my age has any right to deal with in some ways.  But this one hit the hardest about three days ago, and I thought there was going to be a bit of give, a bit of wriggle room, but no.  I finally encountered the words that just broke me in two.  And I won’t repeat them.  I’ve deleted them.  But I came to a screeching halt, and I’m not sure how things will change, but change they absolutely will.   But first – I have…

The radical changes I need to make #Mondayblogs #Wedswriters

So, I was a bit quiet about it, but I went on holiday for two weeks in the middle of August.  I spent the last two weeks battering around a pile of theme parks – Disney, Universal, Blizzard Beach (One of Disney’s waterparks), plus Nasa, Gatorland, the Florida Mall, Denny’s, IHOP… we did so much that I’m spending so much time just exploring my experiences and filing them away carefully.  My memory being what it is, I’ve also got about a gazillion photos that we all took – me, David, his mom, his sister, the kids. I’ll talk about that…

And then she said….follow me :)

I know, I know, I said yesterday I’d post something, but we filmed this, we filmed some other stuff, and then…well, other things got in the way, so we changed the order we did the vids in, and stuff. I’m writing this from my bed today – I’m not having a great week already, but I’m sure it’ll get better 🙂 So, today, I’m inviting you over to Authorinterrupted, which you, Constant Reader, may or may not know, is my ‘professional’ writer’s blog, but which, for a very long time last year was just ‘my blog’.  I’m going to split…

B is for…

Well…B is for a lot of things actually.  I’ll be doing ‘B is for Books’ over at AlexandriaPublishingGroup later today, but for now I wanted to touch on the books, and some other stuff that B is for. In our house, B is for something we just can’t have yet.  Not because we can’t afford it, or because we don’t want one – in fact, as long as I remain fairly successful as a freelancer, money really isn’t a problem, neither will be taking maternity leave. And there, with that one word, you’ll know that I’m talking about babies.  I’ll be doing…

Insidious lies in the Indie community

We interrupt your regularly scheduled fluff for a bit of a rant.  And I wouldn’t be doing this during Nanowrimo season, but it *really* needs to be said. I’ve been thinking a lot about the word ‘Dystopolitics’.  And my idea of Dystopolitics is actually linked to my own books, but it goes beyond that.  The politics of dystopia, right now, is pretty much looking at stuff like ‘A Handmaid’s tale’ and going, oooh, we’ll make sure our political views never get that radical. And you know, the politics of dystopia.  The radicalness….it’s seeping into everything going on around us.  I’m days from…

Who am I?

Cricket asked this and at first, I thought, ah, well, that’s easy. I’m tech support.  I’m a writer.  I’m an extremely clever woman.  I’m a graduate of Creative Writing. I’m a mother.  I’m the woman that’s dating one of the most amazing men in the world, bar none.  I’m close friend to people that I can’t mention by name, because my privacy and theirs is worth more than the street cred it might get me. But that’s all very ‘external’ and perception based. So, I tried to go a little deeper.  My name isn’t Kai, but it’s what everyone bar…

Hack cleaning, and Psycho Killers

Something that I don’t think is very evident from my writing is that I’m very music oriented.  If I can get away with it, no matter where I am, in the house, or out and about there’s either music, an audiobook, or crime programs on in the background somewhere.  Music starts my morning, and audiobooks, or more rarely now, TV shows finish out my day.  I’m constantly somewhere where there is noise.  To the point that if I ever end up catastrophically brain damaged or otherwise unable to instruct it myself, or am in a coma, I’ve got it written…

Of bright lights and disappointments…

We are, to all intents and purposes, one month after ‘the Watershed‘ And there’s a couple of things that have changed since then – some for the better, some in a different way and with no impact.  One for the worse. As the last post explained, I finally graduated.  What the last post barely touches on is why it’s taken so long to get to that point.  And, y’know, I wish I could point at everything I’ve been up to recently and say ‘see, good reason’, but the truth is,  the reason, though, probably, a valid one, isn’t a ‘good’…

Picking up where I left off and why the site has been quiet

Image by Writing On The Mall via Flickr Ok, I know, I’m supposed to blog more than once a week, once a month, once in a blue moon, but it’s been kinda hectic lately.  I’m still getting used to lots of things, but basically, since my last posting, I’ve sorted out my gap year funding for Uni, have handed in several essays to support my gap year, then even started back to my +1 year.  It’s been mad here – the youngest has changed schools – again – to a specialist unit.  The eldest tried out for grammar school.  My…
