Again, because of the post I was struggling with, this is a late post today. Apologies.
So, I’ve talked a little bit about LudoSport, and, when I get the chance, I’ll get a few photos of myself competing or training, but I wanted to tell you guys a little bit about my blade, Petrichor.
In LudoSport, you get a hilt, and a carbon fiber blade, which lights up (hence lightsaber) to fight with. The carbon fiber blade itself is pretty sturdy, but does break (my Form 1 instructor and dear friend is our blade breaker in the Academy), but isn’t strong enough, in theory to do serious damage.
This time last year, for our anniversary, my partner gave me a new hilt. She was a special edition blade, in a light mist colour, and he even wrapped her for me, in my favorite grip leather. And for the longest time, she was called Ceo (kay-o, or Cee-o, depending on how you pronounce the CE-), which is gaelic for mist. I called her that because she didn’t have a name.
It is, as many people close to us know, the 19th anniversary of us starting to date, and in a few days, just before the end of the AtoZ challenge, we’ll have been handfasted for 17 years. For our 16th anniversary, I booked a hotel stay in a lovely hotel in Cornwall, and we explored the Eden project, and generally, had a great time.
On the first morning, walking down the path into the Eden project, I was struck by the smell of vegetation, of the ferns and other elements unfurling after a damp start to the day. It was intoxicating, and in remembrance of that, I named my blade Petrichor.
