D Kai Wilson-Viola is a writer and photographer living on a sunny hillside in the Cotswolds with her fiancée, her two children and her Bengal cat. She is a student at the University of Gloucestershire, studying Creative Writing and Psychology – and training, alongside this, to work as a forensic linguist and forensic writer. Her university studies are an integral part of her professional blogging, and you can read more about her experiences here. She moved here from Edinburgh in 2006, and her latest novel, Reliquary, is set in a mix of real world, and imagined Edinburgh.
Language and words are very important to her – she is an online activist and advocate for good mental health, whilst always keeping a perspective on her own mental health that’s second to none. Her first nonfiction book was called ‘Pictures in the Dark – a bipolar’s guide to good mental health’. She has since gone on to found several writing projects, such as ‘the You-ledger’. Her fiction is even more eclectic – spanning several pen names(link) and multiples of genres. A firm believer in ‘writing what you read’, her work spans several genres.. A blogger and freelance writer, she guest posts and works with several blogs and ezines to keep their content fresh and interesting, without stifling their tone. She also runs several dozen blogs herself, favouring the interesting and offbeat over the well beaten path. Her blogging network is vast , but still intimate and honest about views. Freelancing gives her an opportunity to work with some of the best businesses in the world, and she favors small businesses, as their message is closest to her won, and in most cases, she feels a real empathy with them. A techie at heart, she can code in PHP and Ruby – she games on World of Warcraft, Eve-Online and her consoles, writing reviews, guides and quick tips.
She enjoys exploring and learning new things about various things, and has signed up with Bzzagent, and also tests her own ‘big ticket’ items such as the Sony e-Reader, iPhone and her trusty Nikon D60. She also runs her own hosting server, giving her unparalleled control and a vast experience of Linux in a working environment since 2007.
Mostly self taught she’s a self starter, writer and artist that will go far.
